Adaptation and cultural shock issues can induce stress, anxiety, and depression due to feeling displaced and pressured to conform to new social norms. This can trigger feelings of loneliness, isolation, and internal conflict regarding cultural identity. Additionally, difficulties in forming solid social connections and interpersonal conflicts can affect self-esteem and manifest as stress-related somatic symptoms. It's crucial to seek professional support to address these issues and develop effective coping strategies.

Anxiety is a natural emotional response to dangerous or stressful situations, but when it becomes overwhelming or persistent, it can significantly interfere with daily functioning and emotional well-being. Symptoms of anxiety may include excessive worry, nervousness, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and trouble sleeping. This experience can impact various areas of life, such as work, interpersonal relationships, and physical health. Therapy can help you understand and manage anxiety symptoms, as well as develop effective coping strategies to enhance quality of life and promote emotional well-being.

Depression is a mood disorder that affects how a person feels, thinks, and handles daily activities. Symptoms of depression may include feelings of sadness, hopelessness, loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities, changes in appetite or weight, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, and thoughts of self-harm or suicide. These symptoms can have a significant impact on daily functioning, interpersonal relationships, and overall quality of life. It's important to seek professional support for an accurate diagnosis and to develop an effective treatment plan including therapy and self-care strategies.

Stress is the body's natural response to perceived threatening or challenging situations, but when it becomes chronic or overwhelming, it can significantly impact physical and emotional health. Symptoms of stress can manifest in various ways, such as irritability, difficulty concentrating, changes in appetite, muscle tension, headaches, and trouble sleeping. This experience can affect work performance, interpersonal relationships, and overall quality of life. Seeking professional support from a therapist can help understand and manage stress symptoms, as well as develop effective coping strategies that promote emotional well-being and overall health.

Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by chronic work-related stress. Symptoms of burnout may include extreme fatigue, emotional depletion, lack of motivation, irritability, difficulty concentrating, decreased work performance, and feelings of apathy or cynicism towards work. This experience can negatively impact physical and emotional health, as well as interpersonal relationships and job satisfaction. Seeking professional support is crucial to understand and address burnout symptoms, as well as to develop effective strategies for managing stress and work that promote well-being and recovery.

Panic attacks are sudden and intense episodes of fear or extreme discomfort that may be accompanied by physical symptoms such as palpitations, sweating, trembling, difficulty breathing, choking sensation, dizziness, or fainting. These attacks can occur unexpectedly or in response to specific anxiety-provoking situations. The experience of a panic attack can be terrifying and overwhelming, significantly interfering with daily life and emotional well-being. Seeking professional help from a psychologist is crucial for understanding and managing panic attacks. Additionally, it allows for learning effective coping strategies to reduce the frequency and intensity of episodes, as well as promote emotional recovery.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an intense emotional response to traumatic events, which may include experiences such as violence, abuse, serious accidents, or catastrophic natural events. Symptoms of PTSD can manifest in various ways, such as vivid flashbacks of the traumatic event, recurrent nightmares, avoidance of trauma-related situations, hypervigilance, irritability, and difficulties concentrating. This experience can have a profound impact on daily life and the emotional well-being of the affected person. Therefore, it is important to seek professional support to help you understand and manage PTSD symptoms, as well as to provide effective coping techniques that promote emotional recovery and resilience.

Grief is a natural emotional adaptation process to the loss of a loved one or any other significant loss, such as losing a job or a relationship. Symptoms of grief may vary but can include deep sadness, longing, feelings of loneliness, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and changes in sleep and eating patterns. This process can be overwhelming and challenging, and each individual experiences it uniquely. Seeking professional support can provide a safe space to process emotions, find comfort, and learn healthy coping strategies to adapt to the loss.

Eating disorders are mental health conditions that affect a person's relationship with food and their body. These disorders may include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and other related eating disorders. Symptoms vary depending on the type of disorder but may include restrictive eating behaviors, binge eating episodes, purging, obsessions with weight and body image, and excessive concerns about food and body shape. These disorders can have serious consequences for the physical and emotional health of the affected person. Seeking professional help is crucial to understand and address symptoms, as well as to receive specialized treatment that promotes recovery and overall well-being.

Body image issues refer to the negative or unsatisfactory perception that a person has about their own body. This can manifest as excessive concern about weight, body shape, or overall appearance. Symptoms may include constant comparisons with others, avoidance of social situations due to appearance concerns, restrictive or compulsive eating behaviors, and feelings of shame or anxiety related to physical appearance. These issues can affect self-esteem, mental health, and emotional well-being. Seeking professional support can help address body image issues, develop a healthier relationship with the body, and improve self-acceptance.

Low self-esteem is characterized by a negative perception of oneself and a lack of confidence in one's own abilities and personal worth. Individuals with low self-esteem tend to have a negative view of themselves, doubt their capabilities, and feel unworthy of love and success. Symptoms may include excessive self-criticism, constant comparisons with others, avoidance of challenges due to fear of failure, difficulty accepting compliments, and feeling constantly dissatisfied with oneself. Low self-esteem can affect all areas of life, from interpersonal relationships to academic or work performance. Seeking professional support can help identify and address negative beliefs about oneself, develop self-confidence, and improve self-esteem.

Perfectionism is characterized by setting excessively high standards and constantly seeking perfection in all aspects of life. Perfectionistic individuals tend to be critical of themselves and others, have difficulty accepting mistakes or imperfections, and may experience high levels of stress and anxiety due to self-imposed pressure to meet unattainable expectations. Symptoms may include procrastination due to fear of failure, avoidance of challenges due to fear of not meeting standards, and a tendency to constantly feel dissatisfied with personal achievements. Perfectionism can negatively impact mental health, interpersonal relationships, and overall quality of life. Seeking professional support can help address perfectionistic thought patterns, develop a more realistic and flexible perspective, and learn to value progress over perfection.

Procrastination refers to the habit of postponing or delaying important tasks or responsibilities, often in favor of less urgent but more enjoyable or easier activities. People who procrastinate may experience a temporary sense of relief by avoiding a difficult or unpleasant task, but in the long run, this behavior can lead to stress, anxiety, and feelings of guilt. Symptoms may include actively avoiding responsibilities, difficulty starting or completing tasks, and a tendency to underestimate the time needed to finish them. Procrastination can negatively affect academic, work, and personal performance, as well as self-esteem and self-confidence. Seeking professional support can help identify the underlying causes of procrastination, develop effective time management strategies, and improve the ability to tackle tasks proactively and efficiently.

Sleep problems can manifest as difficulty falling asleep (insomnia), frequent awakenings during the night, interrupted or non-restorative sleep, or early morning awakening and inability to return to sleep. Symptoms may include daytime fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, mood changes, and performance issues at work or school. Sleep problems can have a significant impact on physical, mental, and emotional health, as well as overall quality of life. Seeking professional support can help identify the underlying causes of sleep problems and develop an appropriate treatment plan, which may include lifestyle changes and therapy.

Unhealthy habits refer to repetitive behaviors that have a negative impact on physical, mental, emotional, or overall well-being of a person. These habits may include excessive alcohol or tobacco consumption, poor nutrition, lack of regular exercise, procrastination, excessive use of electronic devices, among others. Symptoms may vary depending on the specific habit, but can include feelings of guilt, anxiety, or depression, physical health problems, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, or low performance at work or school. Addressing unhealthy habits requires self-awareness, motivation, and an action plan to change behavior. Seeking professional support can be helpful in identifying underlying factors contributing to bad habits, developing effective strategies to change them, and establishing healthier and more positive habits instead.

I participated in the workshop 'Let's Make Peace with Our Bodies' led by Armandina, and I loved everything about it: the content, materials, and exercises. In this workshop, I learned the value of my body, setting aside 'imperfections' and changes it has undergone simply from growing or aging, and from creating a human being. It's extremely important to be at peace with your body, to stop judging yourself, and to start by understanding and caring for it appropriately. This workshop is amazing, thank you.

Armandina is an excellent professional. I had CBT therapy sessions with her while she was in Mexico and I was in Chile, organized through Zoom. She was attentive and patient, listening to everything I had to say, and then guiding me step by step through the therapy. While in this type of therapy one has to work on their own issues, she helped by providing perspective, allowing me to face them in a new way. I am very grateful to her.

I took the workshop 'Make Peace with Your Body,' and it helped me focus on myself in the healthiest sense. It taught me to have a beautiful relationship with myself, to appreciate and celebrate everything my body does for me, and to be attentive to my genuine needs and underlying desires. It made me question my fatphobic mandates and encouraged self-care from self-love rather than criticism and punishment. I believe that the harvest of cultivating a healthy relationship with myself is having healthy relationships with others, and taking the course gives me hope of building nurturing and beautiful bonds (first with myself and then with others). I highly recommend it.
